The Mohamed Family

Abraham Mohamed, a Somali refugee for 15 years of his life, moved with his wife and family to one of Hacienda CDC’s affordable rental housing communities two years ago. The Mohameds have seven children: three boys and four girls.

Abraham and his wife do not speak English and were not able to help their kids with their homework. They are thankful to Hacienda for providing support to their family in ways they could not. All three daughters attend Expresiones—Hacienda’s after school program for elementary and middle school students. Their eldest son attended every day until he graduated from the program and started high school. "I see my son and daughters being passionate about learning," Abraham said. His girls never miss a day and are always there to get help with their school work.
