Ludy's Story

Ludy Poox came to Hacienda in June 2010 looking for help starting her own business.  A survivor of domestic violence and mother of 3, Ludy told us her ultimate goal is to secure a positive future for her children by being able to afford a better education for them.  She did not feel she would reach this goal at her previous job working for a company that paid her minimum wage and required her to use products that were harmful to the environment and her own health. 

She had always dreamt of owning her own business but felt that it was impossible because she did not understand where to start.  Working with Valentina, our Microenterprise Developer, Ludy outlined her personal and business goals.  She and Valentina then developed a business plan and completed all the legal requirements to establish her business.

Ludy now runs BROTHER'S GREEN CLEANING, an insured and bounded business that offers services to homes and commercial businesses.  Now that she has the freedom to work on her own terms, Ludy has decided to keep her business 'green.' using only products that are friendly to the environment, good for her clients' health and her own health.  She is currently attending Hacienda's small business development class to work on marketing strategies, and has opened an Individual Development Account (IDA) that will help her expand her business.
