Barbara has been with Hacienda since June 2014. She started her career at Price Waterhouse in the San Jose (Silicon Valley) office. After 5 years there, she spent 5 more years as Assistant Controller at a semiconductor manufacturer before she and her family moved to Oregon. She worked at a local CPA firm in Corvallis for 11 years while raising her 4 children, devoting a large percentage of her time to working with not-for-profit businesses. Since 2001 she has led the finance departments of Benton Habitat for Humanity, Community Outreach Inc, and Willamette Neighborhood Housing Services, all in Corvallis. The unique nature of the latter, a community development corporation like Hacienda CDC, captured her interest and she was happy to discover Hacienda was looking for a CFO as she was looking to fulfill a long-term goal of working in Portland. She is now very happy to be part of Hacienda's exciting future. Barbara holds a Bachelor's degree from Santa Clara University, and is a CPA licensed in the State of Oregon. She spends most of her free time traveling with her husband and keeping up with her grown children.

Martha started her journey with Hacienda in November 2014. Prior to relocating to California, she worked for Volunteers of America and Virginia Garcia Medical Center. While in the Central Valley of Sunny California, she was a Manager for the Housing Authorities of the City and County of Fresno; defined by Housing Urban Development as a very large Public Housing Authority. During her tenure with Authority, she specialized in the development and management of federal grants, designed to provide affordable housing for the low-income and the development and management of human resources. She enjoys administering federal regulations, organizational structure/leadership and developing policy. Upon relocating back to the Portland Metro area, she was drawn to several employment offerings. However, the mission of Hacienda CDC captured her interest. She is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), Portland Human Resource Management (PHRM) and is a certified Public Housing Manager through the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Organization. On her spare time, she enjoys being in the midst of nature, photography and reading.
KArla sanchez sotomayor- staff accountant
Karla was born in Lima, Peru, and moved to the United States when she was thirteen years old. When she came to the U.S. she didn’t speak any English and had difficulty communicating. Besides the language barrier, she also had to become accustomed to the new culture, as well as leaving behind her family in Peru. These challenges did not stop Karla from pursuing her dreams, and she was able to obtain a degree and become the first in her family to graduate.
Karla graduated from Portland State University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Accounting and Finance. Karla joined Hacienda in March 2016 as the new staff accountant. Prior to Hacienda, Karla worked at a local Latina owned marketing agency as the administrative accountant. She also worked at a local tax preparation office as a bookkeeper/payroll specialist. In her free time, Karla enjoys going to the movies, salsa dancing, playing minor percussion instruments and volunteering to organize events that bring together her Latin Culture.
Karla is planning to sit for her CPA exam in summer 2017.

Adriana joined Hacienda in July 2016 as a Parent Educator. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Education with a minor in TESOL. Adriana has had experience working with students of elementary, middle, high school, and college age. She has a passion for sharing her culture and language and working closely with the Latino community. Adriana loves salsa dancing, exploring new cuisines, and most of all spending time with her husband and son.
Courtney Trezise- Fund Development Coordinator

Courtney came to Hacienda in August 2010 as part of the AmeriCorps VISTA program. She supports Hacienda's efforts in fund development, mainly through grant writing and reaching out to the community through the web site and other media. She enjoys being able to support Hacienda's important work in the Latino community. Courtney graduated from Michigan State University in spring of 2010 with B.A.s in International Relations and Spanish, having had the opportunity to study in Valencia, Spain for a semester. She has worked for the Department of Commerce in Washington, DC and first entered the non-profit world as a researcher at the Michigan Public Health Institute. Outside of work Courtney enjoys football and fútbol, playing the piano, and being outdoors.
Nathan Teske- Fund development Director

Nathan joined Hacienda in 2010 as the Director of Community Economic Development to oversee programs designed to create opportunities for economic development and asset building for residents of Hacienda properties and other community members. In 2015 he transitioned into his current role as Fund Development Director. Nathan worked with Catholic Charities-El Programa Hispano for 9 years before joining Hacienda CDC. He has traveled extensively in Mexico and has received a B.A. from Reed College and a PhD from the University of California-Berkeley.
