Overview

Camino a Casa

Hacienda’s Camino a Casa provides a number of services en route to home ownership, helping first-time homebuyers make what could be the biggest purchase of their life. We offer the IDA (Individual Development Account) program to assist you build a savings that is matched 3 times what you save! We also provide down payment assistance to those who qualify in Multnomah County. Selected participants will attend home buyer education classes and work with bilingual, HUD (Office of Housing and Urban Development) certified staff who will answer any questions you have and follow you through the buying process.

The ABCs of Home-buying

The purpose of this monthly course is to educate first time homebuyers in all aspects of the homebuying process and homeownership responsibilities. The course is designed to assist all participants in making sound decisions when purchasing a home and also advice in preserving their home.

IDA - Individual Development Account

Individual Development Accounts are made possible by the state of Oregon to help fist-time home buyers save money towards their down payment. Funds are matched 3 to 1; up to $3,000 that you save will be tripled (up to $9,000!).  Participants will be helped through the home buying process with workshops and counseling by our certified, bilingual staff.

Down Payment Assistance and MCC Tax Credit

Residents of Multnomah County may participate in the Down Payment Assistance program and the MCC Tax Credit program for first-time home buyers.

Qualified families are eligible to receive down payment assistance grants, training in mortgage-readiness and financial fitness training, up to $5,000. Funds received are used for closing costs and down payment assistance.

All funds have been allocated for this round of funding. Please check back in spring or summer of 2012.

Education

To promote long-term financial stability, home-buyer education and financial literacy curriculum are cornerstones of the program.
