Press Release: Hacienda CDC to receive national award for family strengthening

PORTLAND, Ore. - On July 7, the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) will recognize the individuals and organizations that actively work to improve the opportunities and abilities of Latinos throughout the country at its Annual Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hacienda CDC is one of two organizations nationwide that will receive the Family Strengthening Award.

The Family Strengthening Award honor¬s an NCLR Affiliate program whose holistic approach leverages NCLR programmatic initiatives to improve the opportunities and abilities of Latino Families in its community. Hacienda CDC’s afterschool program, Expresiones, demonstrates a comprehensive approach to family strengthening which incorporates all members of the family and addresses education, among other issues. The prestigious award comes with a $15,000 cash prize to be used for the program.

“It is a true honor to be recognized nationally for our work in youth and family services,” says board member Victoria Lara. “This award will support us in our continual effort to provide holistic services to our resident families.” Lara, will accept the award on behalf of Hacienda CDC at the National Affiliate Luncheon on Saturday, July 7th at 12:30 pm.
