Expresiones
Expresiones is an afterschool program for our middle school-age residents designed to increase family participation, school attendance and retention and reports of a positive experience in school. In addition, the program tries to reduce youth risk factors such as gang involvement, dropping out of school, and drug and alcohol abuse. Students meet at four of our community centers, daily after school.
The program continues into the summer, where students participate in daily enrichment activities both on- and off-site through our partnerships with Portland Art Museum, Audubon Society, Tryon Park and Boy Scouts. These activities include hiking, beach trips, camping, horseback riding, community service projects, art activities, and environmental education.
